Interview with the owner, 17th Apr

We have a fantastic group of lakes on our website, which are a credit to our brilliant owners and all their hard work. We asked Heart Lake's owner Lionel a few questions about being a lake owner...

1. When did you discover carp fishing and how did you come to be here at the lake?
I discovered carp fishing at the age of 6 with my grandfather, and quickly became passionate about all kinds of fishing. Carp fishing has now remained a passion for 50 years! I've fished some of the fantastic lakes in England, and in France as well along with a lot of rivers and private estates. Me and my wife wanted to find a lake for a long time. We did so 3 years ago and fell in love with the place. This is the place that became the site of "Heart Lake".

2. What’s the best and worst part of being the owner?
The best part of being an owner is welcoming and getting to know our guests every week. The worst part is if it's difficult conditions for fishing for our customers.

3. What would you say is the best feature of your lake?
It's the whole site that makes its charm; the lodge, the outdoor areas, the large terrace, the calmess and that the pond sits just above the house. It makes you want to go fishing right away and get your bite alarms screaming!

4. When people arrive is there anything they are surprised by?
When people arrive, they are pleasantly surprised by our hospitality. We try to be attentive and explain to our guests how to fish the lake & how to explore the region (Parc du Puy du Fou, canoeing, swimming etc.).

5. What is the most common mistake you see anglers make at your lake?
Most anglers only fish with one rig, their "favourite". Despite the ease of our lake, there are spots that require more exploration, perhaps with Chod Rigs or Snowman Rigs.

6. Finally, what is the one most important piece of advice you’d give to anglers visiting your lake soon?
Our customers come to fish so I would recommend the flavours that work best: coconut, pineapple, tigger nuts, Scopex, spices, Robin Red and Garlic. We have pellets and toasted seeds which we sell on site. Our fish are used to this food all year round as we feed them ourselves even through the winter.

The season begins with the arrival of our customers who begin fishing for beautiful specimens including a magnificent koi carp.

Our pond is at its highest water level. Come and enjoy our equipped terrace overlooking the pond as well as the covered terrace for your barbecues.

We look forward to seeing you!
