About the Lake
Old Oaks is a gravel pit of around 5 acres. It had never been fished before 2006, being left wild and undisturbed. A delightfully pretty little water it will accommodate up to 5 anglers and you book it exclusively just for your party.
Fishing is from one bank and is certainly exciting with a host of features including, plateaus, weed beds, gullies and overhanging vegetation that just scream ‘carp’. The depths range from approximately 6-14ft.
Most snags have been removed by owner Mehdi. Some overhanging branches remain along parts of the bank, so care is needed when casting.
This is a lake where accurate placement of your bait is important and a baitboat gives you a significant advantage - particularly for placing your baits tight to the far margin.
Plastic corn above a bed of hemp and partiblend has proved to be a very effective method. There are no crayfish present. Poisson chat have been a nuisance in the summer months, and whilst they are actively trapped each year, we always recommend going prepared. 18/20mm pop-ups, meshing baits or using fake corn / dumbells / boilies is often the best way to fish when they are active.
There are 5 swims and one of these - the middle swim, 3 - can also accommodate two anglers together if required. Vehicle access is possible along all of the fishing bank. Swims 1 and 3 have room for a campervan to be parked behind them if required, swim 4 would also be okay for smaller campervans (up to transit size).
