Everything worked, bottom baits, pop-ups, margin fishing with a bait boat on the far side and also fishing open water (this produced the biggest fish!)The most fish were however caught from the far margins

General Comments:

Mehdi is absolutely superb in his passion for carp fishing,fish care, and ensuring you have a good time and catch. We had without doubt our best holiday so far! I think Mehdi is finishing the chalet this week and once thats completed Old Oaks will be a carp anglers paradise. The fish all fought incredibly hard and were in good condition - we will be back for the lake record and a grass carp! On our return we hope to see a few beers in the fridge Mehdi, seeing as we helped carry it in there for you!!!!

General Comments:

The fishery is superb ! 7 thirties and 2 new lake record in just 3 days can't be bad ! 13 carp for 29lb average is excellent. I'll come back soon to catch a 40'lber. Thanks Mehdi.

Details of your catches:

25 superb conditioned mirrors. 5 thirties, 17 twenties, 2 doubles and one original single. My friend Darrin caught the current lake record mirror at 35.08lb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

All fish came tight to far bank uner over hanging trees and bushes in depths from 4ft-7ft of water. The use of a baitboat was essential for tight precise baiting. Bait wise all fish came to 14mm pop-ups and triple plastic corn. I was using Quest Irish Cream boilies and M8 baits and placing 1 kg of hemp/Quest Irish Cream pellet with 40 loose boiles to each spot. Bottom baits did not produce nor did open water spots.As the fish have just woken up from their winter slumbers most of the fish were patroling the far margins.

I have been to many Angling Lines waters and use them at least once a year.

General Comments:

The lake owner Mehdi is an absolute gem. He is creating an excellent fishery which will be on par with Laroussi in the future. Old Oaks is a perfect exclusive venue with all the swims on one side of the lake so that there are no conflicts with other anglers. The stock fish which Mehdi has selected by hand are in excellent condition and are very hard fighters as are the beautiful original fish. My only wish was that the grass carp had fed, that 40lb grassy would have looked great on my unhooking mat !!!! Get on Old Oaks before everyone else does.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing the margins in the last swim on a gravel bar in 5 feet of water. South wind blowing in bring the fish in this area : saw them crashing and feeding here. 3kg of pellet, 4kg of partiblend and 40 freebies per cast per rod : pop'up mapple 8 and pineapple with plastic sweet corn on hair.
