Tree Felling at Old Oaks, 28th Jul

We recently took a week out to undertake the removal of many poplar trees on Old Oaks. They had become unstable and a danger to anglers on the lake. Much care has been made to retain the character of the lake but any trees that posed a threat have now been removed.

A last minute move proves successful for Nico, 5th Apr

'After a 13 hour drive from Germany my girlfriend and I arrived at the gates of Laroussi. Mehdi opened the gates to heaven and after a small talk with Mehdi about the last week on Laroussi we start a little walk around. Maybe 30 minutes later two really friendly guys from England arrived, Mehdi informed us about the rules on the Lake and then we draw the pegs. I draw first and choice Le Anse, the strong east wind push since 3 weeks into that swim so I hoped that the fish are maybe there … But nothings happens for the first days.

On Wednesday I moved to la point than we see many fish in front of Mehdi’s treehouse. In the first night on la point I landed a massive grasscarp weighing 18.4 Kilo and 20.6 Kilo so that starts good new peg first night and straight on new grasscarp pub with the 20.6 kilo…

On daytime nothings happened so we check the other lake of the complex, Old Oaks, Mehdi told me the tactics and I baited in front of peg 5 view little spots under the trees up for Friday. Friday morning we moved to Old Oaks and I see a couple of fish feeding in my area. My Rod was only 5 minutes in the water and I had the first take … 23.5 mirror wooowww not bad for the start but the next 3 hours nothing happens so we moved to peg one the second rod was maybe 20seconds in the water I had a take on the first rod and then on the second rod double take …

The first landed fish was a 21 Kilo Mirror and the second fish was a common with a new record weight of 31,5 Kilo (69lb) !!! New PB for me and new Lake record for Old Oaks, I was so happy and absolute over the moon … I have to say a BIG THANKYOU to my friend Mehdi so the Tips and for being so kind he is a really great guy !!

Winter Session at Old Oaks , 29th Feb

Tom Robson and Rowan Charnick had a very successful winter carp fishing session at Old Oaks this February. They had carp on the bank to 55b including 2 x 50s, 10 x 40s, 6 x 30s, 2 x 20s and 1 x 10 - an impressive average weight of 39.8lb. Watch the video below...
