Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tight to the far margins was the best method. Using small bright pop-ups and simple rigs. We fed a lot of boilies and sweetcorn and it worked very well.

A top venue that has made for a great section for a future Fox Edges DVD project. One of the best small venues in France you could wish to fish!

Chod rigs and pop ups fished tight to the far margin. When the weather was hot zig rigs fished in open water did the business.

General Comments:

You won't meet a nicer fishery owner than Mehdi! He really has got the balance of fish bang on in his lakes. He has made the fishing so much better by getting rid of the snags in the water, as now all the swims on the lake can catch fish. Previous years they would hold up in one area of the lake meaning 1 or 2 pegs would fish well but the others not so well. 4 anglers; peg 5 - 10 fish, peg 4 - 8 fish, peg 3 - 7 fish, peg 2 - 3 fish, peg 1 - 7 fish. Mehdi was down to the lake within minutes of us catching the long common to congratulate and help with the weighing. Can't wait to get back out to one of Mehdi's lakes!!!

Most fish caught against the far margin, a couple however caught in open water, main bait used was Quest Rahja Spice and CBS AS-1, small pop up to make a snowman seemed to help (10mm)

General Comments:

Mehdi has done a lot of work clearing the margins on both sides, we did find some small snags in open water, we managed to clear a few but cost us a fish or two. We had 16 fish all together which was very pleasing for the time of year and our French fishing experience, will definitely go back, Mehdi has the balance spot on as being in touch if you need him.

Double bottom bait hook baits, over small beds of boilies. We used the bait boat to minimise disruption as these fish are very cautious!

General Comments:

Another great trip to Old Oaks! Mehdi has worked very very hard over winter, removing snags, mulching swims and making other repairs. He should be proud of the venue that he has built. All of the fish were in great condition and fought very hard. The average size in this lake is incredible!
