Was a tricky week but we had 12 fish in all 3x 50s, 6x40s, 2x 30s 1x20.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Not my first time to Old oaks so knew the fish seem to switch on and off like a light switch which can make the angling tricky. We had a productive first half of the week and then they just switched off. Swim 2 was the best swim and the fish seemed concentrated in the middle swims with 5 and 1 being really quiet which is quite unusual. Poisson chat werent a problem at all. Prevention is better than cure and taking a bait they didn’t like paid off. This time it was Karper baits spicy nut. And mad baits Nutz over chilli hemp and Mehdi’s parti blend.

General Comments:

Had an amazing week, the catfish are hard work as eat all the bait so have to put loads in to fill them up and get out the way. Would have hoped for a couple more fish, think of lake was netted and got rid of them would make a lot better. Medhi the Owner was a very nice man and welcoming I would recommend but be prepared for a mentally hard week while the little cat fish are still in there.

Caught using 2 x Plastic Corn. Difficult to get through the Poisson Chat which were very active and ate everything we put into the lake.

I'd definitely recommend the venue, but not during the summer months. The Poisson Chat were numerous and very active which was a bit disappointing having read that their numbers have been reduced over recent years. It made fishing very difficult to the point that we moved to Laroussi on the Wednesday.

General Comments:

A difficult week of fishing, but still a good trip... Mehdi a lovely guy as mentioned before numerous times - happy to see you and made sure that we were ok on the 1st Day. Offered to let us fish Laroussi as Old Oaks was fishing very poorly with the Poisson Chat activity. Laroussi was beautiful and very scenic, Old Oaks felt a bit more 'commercial' with formed swims etc but both lakes were well maintained and offered great options for fishing. Can't help feeling that a bit more effort could be being made to reduce the Poisson Chat numbers in Old Oaks - especially given there aren't any in Laroussi showing they can be removed. Mehdi said he traps in the lake, so perhaps an increased number is required to get them under control in the short term. Appreciate it's not a simple task, but when you continually see a pack of them clear a spot you bait in the margin within 5 minutes it's pretty demoralising. Laroussi was beautiful and really enjoyed doing a couple of nights on there despite not catching - would definitely like to return for a full week in the future. Supermarkets within 10 minutes were good, and went to 'Wake Paradise' for lunch one day, just up the road, lovely setting by a lake and good food.

From the serene surroundings to the superb fishing opportunities, this place truly exceeded my expectations. First and foremost, the fishing at Old Oaks was outstanding. We managed to land 10 carp during our visit, and each one provided a thrill. The lake itself is well-maintained. The fish species we caught were carp (mirror and common) and a nice grass carp. However, what truly made out visit unforgettable was the owner, Mehdi. From the moment we arrived, Mehdi's warm hospitality and genuine passion for fishing were evident. He went above and beyond to ensure that all anglers had everything they needed for a successful and enjoyable fishing experience. Mehdi's dedication to customer satisfaction was truly remarkable. His attention to detail and willingness to assist with any request made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Mahdi's love for his craft and his commitment to providing an exceptional fishing experience was truly commendable. In conclusion, we definitely recommend Old Oaks Carp Lake to any angler looking for an incredible fishing experience although the lake can be challenging. The 10 carp we caught were just the icing on the cake. Mahdi, the owner, deserves special recognition for his remarkable dedication and passion. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Old Oaks Carp Lake, where I know I will be greeted by Mahdi's warm smile and enjoy another fantastic day of fishing.
