Yes, but I would warn them that the swims could do with a little work and to prepare for the Poisson Chat.

General Comments:

A very difficult week, the weather was very hot, humid with no wind on the water which had a big effect on the lake. It was easy to locate the fish with most holding up in the far margin under tree canopies or anywhere out of the sun. They had no interest to feeding during the day or night no matter we tried or where we fished. The Poisson Chat were very active and there is a lot of them including big balls in most swims. (Be warned) Unfortunately we picked a bad week with all the elements against us but that's the luck of the draw and carp fishing!! We hope the next party has a better luck than we did.

Details of your catches:

Had a great week on old oaks with 20 fish between us. We had 6 over 50lb and 8 over 40lb. Plus we had 4 grass carp too. Darren in peg 5 had 3 over 50 and David in peg 2 had 2 over 50. Paul in peg 3 had the most fish with a total of 9 carp to over 50lb. Unfortunately Paul in peg 4 didn't catch and also Paul in peg 1 didn't either a tough week for them but we all had a great time. Yes there were 3 Paul's in total!

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fish we're caught on a few different tactics really mostly on boilies tight to far margin with Ronnie's over the top.Also a few come out on wafters too over particles.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were good nice hot shower and big fridge for the beers.Big bait freezer more than capable to cater for lots of bait.

Were you happy with them?

Yes very

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Highly recommended if you want to catch big carp lots of them in there. Not an easy water but if you seem to get the timings right with the weather then you can expect a great weeks fishing.

General Comments:

Mehdi was great couldn't have asked for a better owner, he was always there if we needed him and he left us to get on with our fishing. Also had a good chat with him about he's pumpkins and he's plans for the fish in the stock pond be some stunning fish going into both lakes soon and can't wait to go ba k and try and catch some of them.

Details of your catches:

Really hard week with the hot week and the poisson chat. We only had 3 fish out between the 4 of us but all PB’s so can’t ask more than that. First fish that came out was a big surprise tipping the scale to just under 80lb was the long common at 79.10 which we had to weight twice with two different scale because we thought it had died a few weeks before and didn’t think there was another fish of that size in old oaks. As you can imagine Roy was over the moon! 2nd fish came in at 62.5 mirror for Ant, Mehdi told us it hasn’t been out since May. 3rd fish was a 35.4lb grass carp and a new pb for John

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Long common was caught using an ib pop up dumbell from the far margin. Same again for the mirror far margin using the same hook bait and the grass carp was caught on a single grain of plastic maize casted to showing fish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

All good shower was great and we brought are own microwave and toaster. The BBQ was fine.

Would definitely recommend old oaks, Mehdi as previous feedbacks say absolute gent. Leaves you alone.

Big beds of bait to help with the number of poisson chat in the lake. Most bites came tight to the far margin under the over hanging trees.

Medhi the owner is brillant. Always on hand to help out. Well worth a visit, the amount of huge carp in there is impressive.
