General Comments:

I fish alone so took the opportunity to fish Old Oaks in winter at a very good price and ended up staying 2 weeks. Freezing conditions so was hard caught fish when the temp rose to around 5 degrees but mostly stayed between minus 1 and 2 degrees. No signs of fish so had to fish for one bite at a time at where was recommended by owner and at deepest depths I found mapping swims but far margin 3/5m in produced biggest fish, 25lb one from open water. I would definitely love to fish in spring or autumn but as a single fisherman just not possible. But glad I done it even in extreme cold. I would definitely say after fishing 8 different French lakes Old Oaks in my opinion is prob the best big carp lake I’ve done.

General Comments:

Took the chance of a last minute 4 night break to Old Oaks and it paid off. The weather was very wet and windy but well worth the trip. The average size of the fish in this lake is unbelievable. I caught the 57lb mirror 14 years ago at 28lb. Great to see Mehdi as always!

12 carp landed. 1 x high double, 1 x 30+ , 6 x 40+ 4 x 50+ biggest 58lb 10oz. 4 lost.

General Comments:

Owner very helpful and friendly. The lake has a impressive amount of huge carp. Not a runs water but the rewards are there if you like a challenge.

6 fish fell to wafters and one to a popup on a Ronnie. 5 fish caught at the far margin and 2 in open water.

Yes really happy with the facilities, shower was hot and the toilet was clean, a large freezer is provided along with a decent size fridge.

General Comments:

The lake fished really hard, the weather conditions was spot on and the fish showed themselves here and there but they just seemed preoccupied, in the end we managed 7 fish with a PB broken. The venue is lovely and Mehdi was really accommodating, I would definitely recommend this lake to friends.
