The three biggest fish came fishing single hi attract hookbaits at the bottom of the shelf and the other three came over light baiting of house pellet and boilie.

Yes, Old Oaks is a great venue run by an all round lovely fella Mehdi who leaves you to it but is always on hand if needed. It isn’t an easy water and can be very moody but when they’re in the mood the average size of fish is fantastic.

General Comments:

I timed it just right and although it was really icy cold when I set up a nice southerly came in and the fish switched on. You have to make the most of it while they’re in the mood on Old Oaks as they have an uncanny knack of switching off as quick as they turn on. All the bites came from the bottom of the marginal shelf fishing hinged chod rigs as there was a lot of leaf debris on the bottom.

We had 4 fish in total 1 at 26lb, 1 at 33lb, 1 at 42lb and the long common at 82lb it was a hard week fishing and weather wise but managed to get lucky

Hemp, sweetcorn, castor and some boilies in a mix fishing with fake baits

Lovely lake will definitely be back when the weathers nicer, Mehdi was spot on really good guy and keeps the place nice and tidy

8 fish between us. 5 over 40lb, 1 over 50lb and 2 over the magical 60lb+

General Comments:

Medhi the owner is always on hand for help and advice. Not a runs water but the rewards are there, a stunning lake with a huge head of massive carp.

Great week at old oaks with very tricky weather conditions we still managed to get a few Me in peg 1 had 4 fish of 41.3, 44.6, 50.4, 52.8 Garry peg 2 long common @77.12 Gus peg 3 blanked Jonny peg 4 33.3, 35.8, 42.6, 44.6 and 51.6

Absolutely this lake is special with a massive stock of big fish, it is definitely not a runs water if that’s what your looking for. Mehdi the owner is a really nice guy and is always there to help if you need him all round top venue
